In order to keep the rich from the poor due to the unbalanced population gap between this 2, the electoral college was created. Is it fair? No. Does your opinion matter? Of course not! Your voice won't change what the government thinks. Nobody here (maybe Jason Ramos being an exception) are among the extraordinary wealthy or in the government. But that doesn't stop the electoral college from working time after time. What this does do, however, is allow small states to get more votes regardless of their lack of population compared to bigger states.
Without the Electoral college, there would be some problems. With out it, there would not be an immediate out come with the votes. If popular vote were to be the process of which we decided presidency, our candidates would request for recounts, making the process take much longer than necessary. One example of where it succeeded was during Bush and Clinton in 1992 not allowing any run offs from potentially happening.
I am so happy you wrote a blog. I have been waiting forever for someone to write one. I see why you believe that, but I still believe we need to have an electoral college. If you want more information why we should not have an Electoral College you can look under my blogs comments. Someone from nationpopularvote.com went on a rant there.
